Getting out and about
January Horizons
Whatever happens in the outside world, January for me is a time of blissful hibernation; a time I can stay still and let the frenetic activity of the pre-Christmas months leave my system. Such a long time spent working on short term and immediate goals can send the horizon and any sense of perspective careering right out of the picture.
So, inspired by Mind Dorset’s ‘Move your Mind in January’ online challenge, I made a real effort this January to leave the house more and to have an ‘out and about’ day once a week to explore wider horizons.
I’m getting more and more into the rhythm of working full time now, and am realising I don’t have to keep justifying time spent away from my desk. Sometimes, stepping to the side and seeing things from different perspective gets you to your goal faster than dashing all-too-focussed in a straight line
Where to next then? Maybe Lymington, Beaminster or Salisbury, maybe somewhere I’ve not even heard of yet.
I’m going to keep the ‘out and about days’ going throughout the year as I love a good long horizon!
